Look at our friend Andrea pulling out a Hamilton/Walkmen line to start her latest missive. Brava Andrea.
Missing you on coverage as here in the states(I admit this sheepishly) we are stuck with ESPN’s terrible coverage. Tennis Channel why hath thou forsaken us??
Second, I know your Finite Jest is all about what happened in the last week, and it should never vary; good stuff. But somehow, somewhere, I'd love to hear your expansion on the youth movement in women's tennis. At one time, there were so many teens Slam winners that the WTA put age limit restrictions on players' entries. After Hingis won the Wimby doubles at 15, then the Aussie singles at 16, then Sharapova won Wimby at 17, tennis fans thought that no one over 25 would ever be worth watching. Other than one win by Raducanu and one by Gauff, it's been a generation since teen women Slam winners were common. Are we possibly looking at a return to the Teen Age of Graf, Seles, Hingis, Serena? (I'm thinking Jovic, Andreeva, Bartunkova, etc.)
Hate to disappoint Andrea but tennis is absolutely not my favourite sport, with my English bias that spot is reserved for Cricket. But I love good sports writing that enlightens, explains and amuses. Pleased to say your column absolutely hits that spot. You never know, if you keep going, maybe you can convert me!
Yes, the AO is fun to watch…if one can avoid Chris Fowler, the fanboy who’s yet to take up the advice Cliff Drysdale gave him years ago: talk less. Thankfully, ESPN streaming allows access to lots of good announcers and knowledgeable commentators, including our Andrea.
Lucky you. I like Patrick McEnroe as announcer because he keeps it light. Neither McEnroe adds much, though, esp. John. And then there’s Chrissie Evert, who seems a great person, but whose commentary contradicts itself game to game to game, if not within games. A tendency of a few commentators, including Pam Shriver, is seeing every point as a trend.
Andrea -- if you like The Highwaymen by The Highwaymen, please go to YouTube and watch
The song The Highwomen by The Highwomen. Brandi Carlisle, Amanda Shires, Natalie Hemby and Marren Morris.
Even better--their song If She Ever Leaves Me is stunningly good too
"We are the Highwomen
Singing songs still untold
We carry the sons you can only hold
We are the daughters of the silent generations"
Thank you! A song to come back again, and again ^_^

Bartunkova vs. Jovic in the final! Why not. They are both something to behold, these two youngins, brimming with fearless talent.
I count 5 Czechia women still in the draw. Only 1 less than USA, whose population is 30+x!! What a stat.
First, love you on The Big T. More, please!

Fabulous advert. Glad to see the hair is resisting Melbourne’s multi-season days.
Oh that ad! Thank god for funny people writing funny ads. Thanks for sending great vibes from Melbourne, Petko. Love tuning in and hearing your voice!
That advert is pretty good 😃. Lobbing your work as ever x
Waylon Jennings : “Freedom to Stay”, listen to it.
