Dear friends and fellow travellers, tennis enthusiasts and mad people,
Welcome to my tennis themed newsletter/blog Finite Jest. I played on tour for 16 years, was sometimes better sometimes worse, but ALWAYS stressed out and to share some of that stress with you all who surely have not had enough stress on your own, I came up with this. Ever the perfect timing in life, I decided to retire at exactly the same time as Serena Williams did, and since then I have been lucky enough to watch tennis from various TV announcers’ booths, eating snacks, drinking iced coffee (occasionally Honey Deuce - if you know you know, if you don’t, google it) yelling at my former colleagues. It’s safe to say: I love my job! I am also a wildly famous author in Germany which means two people know of me (my parents) and thought it a good idea to bring my questionable talents to the rest of the world.
What is to be expected? A unique insight into what players think, how they feel, why tennis is the best sport in the world, what you can learn from it for life, how it drives us mad and an endless quest for a definitive answer of why the hell we just can’t seem to quit it.
Oh, and also: fashion. Just kidding, but not really. I delve not only into tennis itself but the culture it creates or could create if it got its s*** together.
My first post will be up this Friday about all things Grand Slam and the pleasure will be all yours (hopefully).
Join me and subscribe. Let’s bring this mother home!
Yours truly, Andrea
Pathetic. I just read the newsletter to spot comma mistakes and feel superior.
Woohoo!
